Team 3 : Elasticity of solids

  Description :

The interest of this team is focused on the study of elastic properties (velocities and modules) of materials and thin layers. The approach consists in theoretically simulating the Sheppard and Wilson model data under different operating conditions of the acoustic microscope as well as under the effect of external parameters such as temperature and pressure, and then optimize and adapt the external conditions to the planned properties. The objectives of our team are spread over two axes, the study of massive materials and thin layers:

- The characterization of materials which is interested in determining the effect of the pressure on the acoustic velocities and the elastic modules in order to determine the transitions of solid state phases as well as the effect of temperature .

- The study of thin films is based on the determination of the velocities of the surface modes as well as the deduction of the dispersion curves and the quantification of anomalies observed for some structures.
