Team 1 : Elaboration, treatment and characterization of thin layers

The members of the E2CM team are responsible of the development of thin films and their characterization, they are involved in the development of experimental techniques for the deposition of thin films. The recommended techniques are the soft ways, the electroplating mainly, the physical methods of deposit are also to be taken into account, in particular the technique of the thermal evaporation. The team also deals with the thermal treatment of the materials which are made in processing furnaces in order to observe the phase changes from the ordered to the disordered state and vice versa and to improve the crystallinity of the layers. The characterization of the materials is optically measured by the measurement of physical quantities such as the reflection and transmission coefficients of the thin layer. This measurement, after calculations based on known models such as the model of cables that models a thin layer by a square matrix, provides access to the electronic structure of the material.
